Muong La District Develops Green Agriculture

Muong La district develops green agriculture.

The Resolution of the Muong La District Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term sets out 03 breakthroughs to promote socio-economic development in the area, of which developing green agriculture associated with the tourism economy is one of the crucial breakthroughs. To achieve the set goals, the District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 06-NQ/HU dated December 19, 2021, of the District Party Committee on developing green agriculture, directing the District People's Committee, communes, and towns to develop an implementation plan. Propaganda and mobilization of people to convert ineffective crops to fruit trees associated with building raw material areas for processing.

From 2021 to the present, the district has supported high-quality crop varieties such as Taiwanese GL4 mango, Tam Hoa plum, red-fleshed jackfruit, Queen pineapple, grapefruit, and pear trees for more than 1,000 households, with a total cost of over 4.5 billion VND; supported nearly 460 million VND to implement a model of renovating local apple gardens with Dai apple varieties in Muong Bu commune; supported 109 households to participate in the organic sticky rice production model in Ngoc Chien commune, with a scale of 24 hectares of rice; renovated and cared for mango trees in an organic direction in Ta Bu and Chieng Hoa communes..., at the same time supported cold storage and drying houses for 07 production households; built 07 safe agricultural and forestry supply chains; made logos, printed labels, product packaging... with a total cost of over 2.1 billion VND.

With the orientation of sustainable agricultural development, Muong La district commands to promote the application of science and technology, safe production, organic, environmentally friendly, and green agriculture, creating a change to improve the quality and value of agricultural products, contributing to improving people's lives. Currently, Muong La district maintains 11,246 hectares of grain crops; 779 hectares of vegetables; 143.5 hectares of raw vegetables for processing for Doveco Son La Fruit and Vegetable Processing Center; nearly 7,150 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds, fresh fruit output of over 33,000 tons/year, 961 hectares of crops certified safe according to VietGAP standards, produced in an organic direction; 25 codes for growing mango, longan, banana for export, with 633 hectares; building 14 OCOP products from 3 stars or higher...

n addition, the district has provided 100 piglets to 20 households in the mountainous communes of Chieng An and Chieng Cong; 4,000 ducklings to 20 households in Nam Pam and Muong Trai communes; supported the farming of carp, local pigs, and black chickens for households in Na Tau village, Ngoc Chien commune; 20 fish cages for Ngoc Chien Aquatic Cooperative, with a total cost of over 600 million VND... So far, the total herd of large livestock has reached over 45,000 heads, and poultry has over 600,000 heads. Taking advantage of the vast water surface potential, with over 200 hectares of Son La and Nam Chien hydroelectric lakes, cage fish farming has been strongly developed. Up to now, the district has 327 cages for raising sturgeons and 773 cages for developing other types of fish with economic value.

After 4 years of realizing the goals of Resolution No. 06-NQ/HU dated December 19, 2021, of the District Party Committee on Green Agricultural Development. Up to now, Muong La district has completed and exceeded 16/20 targets set by the Resolution for the development of increasing the annual crop area, reaching 113.91% of the resolution target, planting more than 2,247 hectares of new fruit trees, reaching 109.11% of the resolution target; fresh fruit output of 33,000 tons of various fruits, reaching 164.18% of the resolution target..., green agricultural production is bringing positive results, Muong La district is continuing to expand the organic rice growing model, supporting the development of farming production, according to the value chain, precious medicinal herb growing areas, diversifying livelihoods, and assisting startups and attracting investment, in particular, focuses on improving the quality of agricultural products through support programs for building OCOP products, producing according to VietGAP standards, and tracing origin.

In the coming time, Muong La district will promote the development of green and sustainable agriculture, increase propaganda about the benefits of organic production and VietGAP standards, and change the thinking and production methods of the people. Promote trade promotion, build OCOP products, and issue planting area codes, geographical indications, VietGAP certification, organic certification, and safe products; attract and create conditions for investors to cooperate with cooperatives to implement projects on growing fruit trees, raising livestock, and raising fish in cages according to VietGAP standards, improving the quality and value of agricultural products, meeting market requirements.
