Mai Son district enhances the development of agricultural production and consumption chain
Currently, Mai Son district cultivates 11,500 hectares of fruit trees, including custard apples, mangoes, longans, and dragon fruit, with an estimated annual output of nearly 100,000 tons. Of this, 5,400 hectares utilize high-tech farming applications, 2,700 hectares follow organic production practices, and over 1,600 hectares meet VietGAP standards. Until now, the Son La Provincial People’s Committee has recognized four high-tech agricultural zones covering 1,773 hectares, involving 2,333 households. These include two coffee production zones, one custard apple zone, and one mango zone. In recent years, Mai Son district has intensified efforts to promote and encourage farmers to apply modern agricultural techniques. The district has successfully established and maintained 48 safe agricultural and aquacultural supply chains, consisting of four vegetable and fruit chains, 39 fruit tree chains (including mangoes, custard apples, longans, pomelos, and strawberries), three coffee and tea chains, and two pork production chains. Additionally, 391.9 hectares have been newly integrated into these linkages. As a result, the district now has over 9,800 hectares under contract farming agreements between businesses, cooperatives, and local farmers, accounting for 19.7% of the district’s total cultivated land, associated with factories and agricultural processing facilities operating effectively in the district.

Key Crop Areas in Mai Sơn District
At the conference, delegates proposed various solutions to enhance productivity, ensure market stability, and promote sustainable agricultural development in the region. Key discussions focused on restructuring the agricultural sector toward modernization and sustainability in line with local conditions. Key measures included establishing agricultural production linkages through collaboration between farmers, cooperatives, and businesses; developing and managing brands, geographical indications, and product barcode registrations for key agricultural products; creating software for product traceability; and promoting agricultural products through public media channels.
Maximizing existing advantages by developing and implementing infrastructure investment projects, establishing specialized production zones for high-value agricultural products. The district aims to attract investment and integrate various funding sources, including state capital, credit policies, and land incentives, to support businesses in technology innovation, production linkages, processing, and product consumption, with a particular focus on its key agricultural products.
