(en.sonla.gov.vn) On April 22, 2025, Ms. Trang Thi Xuan, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting with the delegation of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam on the implementation of the project "Promoting gender equality through improving the economic efficiency of agricultural production and tourism development in Son La province, phase 2" (GREAT 2 Son La).

At the meeting, the Son La Provincial People's Committee informed about the results of performing the GREAT Project Phase 2. To implement the GREAT 2 Son La project, the province has established a Steering Committee and issued Operating Regulations; after arranging and streamlining the organizational structure in the political system of Son La province, the project has submitted adjustments to the Project Owner assigned to the Department of Finance, perfecting the Steering Committee and the Project Management Board. The donor side noticed that the Project Implementation Manual and Investment Approval Process were approved.

To achieve the overall goal of enhancing the power, socio-economic status, and adaptability of women in ethnic communities in Son La province. GREAT 2 Son La has developed a market system in Agriculture and Tourism. The strategy supports 04 cross-cutting issues such as access to finance, digital transformation, development of women-owned enterprises/cooperatives, and communication to change behavior. Support the development, completion, and implementation of policies. The plan is to develop and implement 13 sub-projects. So far, the project has had 08 proposals approved for implementation, reaching 61.5%, and 05 proposals are being developed, approved, and implemented.

The total project investment is 15,201,287 AUD (Australian dollars), equivalent to 250.8 billion VND. Of which the non-refundable ODA capital is 14,322,500 AUD, equivalent to about 236.3 billion VND. By March 2025, the project disbursed 4,116,445 AUD, reaching 29% of the total funding source. The counterpart capital from the local budget is 14.5 billion VND. By the time of reporting, 3.5 billion VND was disbursed.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Trang Thi Xuan hopes to continue receiving attention and support from the Australian Government so that the GREAT 2 Project can be effectively implemented, especially in implementing agricultural and tourism activities in chains, contributing to creating sustainable production and business market linkages, promoting digital transformation, digital integration and capacity for people, cooperatives and businesses to develop.
