The livestock situation remains stable, the total livestock herd develops fruitfully, and the consumption market is stable. The province has strengthened disease prevention and control and promoted propaganda and vaccination for livestock. However, in the first quarter of 2025, the province recorded African swine fever in 03 communes, causing 55 pigs to become sick and die, and was demolished with a total weight of 1,970 kg. Foot and mouth disease occurred in 02 communes with 32 pigs infected, while lumpy skin disease also affected 32 pigs in 02 communes. The authorities promptly directed the handling, disinfection, and decontamination to prevent the spread. The aquaculture area is stable, estimated at 2,961 hectares. The number of cages reached 6,993, and the output of aquaculture products was estimated at 2,196.75 tons, up 2.86% over the same period last year.
In the next quarter, Son La province will strengthen disease surveillance, maintain stable livestock farming, expand the cultivation area according to VietGAP standards, and promote the export of high-quality agricultural products.
