Mai Son district improves the quality of agricultural products.

At Present, the district has over 11,500 hectares of fruit trees, including custard apple, mango, longan, dragon fruit, etc. The estimated fruit output is nearly 100,000 tons/year, of which 5,400 hectares of fruit trees are grown using high technology, 2,700 hectares of fruit trees are grown using organic methods, and over 1,600 hectares are grown according to VietGAP standards. So far, the Provincial People's Committee has recognized four high-tech agricultural zones, with a total area of 1,773 hectares of 2,333 participating households, including two coffee production zones, one custard apple production zone, and one mango production zone.

The whole district maintains and develops 48 safe agricultural and aquatic food supply chains; there are over 9,800 hectares of crops under contracts for the production and consumption of products between enterprises, cooperatives, and households, with some key crops such as coffee, sugarcane, corn seeds, cassava, sweet corn, vegetable soybeans, mango, custard apple, macadamia,..., in the district, there are factories and agricultural product processing facilities operating effectively like Son La Sugarcane Joint Stock Company; Phuc Sinh Son La Joint Stock Company; Minh Tien Group Joint Stock Company - MTG; Son La Coffee Processing Joint Stock Company; Song Lam Tay Bac Fertilizer Joint Stock Company; Dong Giao Food and Export Joint Stock Company; Chieng Sung Agricultural Joint Stock Company.

However, the current productivity and quality of agricultural production in Mai Son district are not commensurate with its potential and advantages. In the coming time, Mai Son district needs to focus on many solutions to help increase productivity, stabilize output, and develop sustainable agriculture for the locality. In particular, focusing on restructuring the agricultural sector towards modernity and sustainability by local realities; building agricultural production chains through cooperation between farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises; establishing, managing, and developing brands, geographical indications and registering codes and barcodes for key agricultural products; building software to trace product origins.

Promoting propaganda, promotion, and product introduction on mass media; maximizing advantages based on building and implementing infrastructure investment projects; forming specialized production areas for some agricultural products with high economic value; implementing policies to attract investment and integrate state capital sources, credit and land policies; supporting enterprises in technological innovation, implementing production linkages, processing, and consumption of agricultural products, especially the district's key agricultural products.
