According to Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Moc Chau has been recognized as meeting the conditions for establishing a town, with a total natural area of over 1,000 km² and a population of more than 148,000 people. Moc Chau is one of the three key growth poles of Son La province, serving as a connection between the Northwestern subregion, the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, the capital Hanoi, the Northern Delta, the entire country, and international markets. The establishment of Moc Chau town aims to maximize urban economic potential, enhance and develop technical and social infrastructure systems, and ensure a balanced approach between urban development, investment attraction, environmental protection, and national defense and security. Moc Chau will leverage its unique strengths, outstanding natural landscapes, climate, and rich cultural heritage of ethnic communities to build itself into a green and smart tourism city on the border plateau, serving as a key growth driver for the province and the region.

Following the announcement of the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of Mộc Châu Town, an art program titled "Mộc Châu – The Gem of the Misty Highlands" took place. Artists and performers delivered a spectacular, well-orchestrated performance, featuring a rich blend of artistic expressions. The program highlighted songs and dances praising the Party and the beloved President Ho Chi Minh while showcasing the history, development, and unique cultural traditions of Moc Chau. It also celebrated the beauty of the land, the soulful spirit and love of its people, and the breathtaking natural landscapes of Moc Chau, Son La Province, and the entire Northwest region.
