(sonla.gov.vn) On April 12, 2024, the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organization Affairs held a national online conference on the results of foreign non-governmental work in 2023 and the direction of work in 2024. Ms. Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and chairman of the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organization Affairs, chaired the central bridge. At the Son La provincial bridge, the Leader of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Son La province chaired the conference.

The conference unanimously assessed that in 2023, the world and regional situation will develop rapidly and complicatedly, and the impact of the post-COVID-19 pandemic is a dilemma for all countries, international organizations, and foreign non-governmental organizations.
In that context, people's diplomacy, including foreign non-governmental work, continued to be highly appreciated by the Party and State. Central and local agencies, departments, ministries, and branches have simultaneously innovated and enhanced the effectiveness of management and mobilization of foreign non-governmental organizations.
The activities of foreign non-governmental organizations are implemented by the Party's guidelines and policies, in compliance with the State's policies and laws, and well-coordinated with Vietnamese agencies and partners in the implementation process, contributing to the socio-economic development results of the country in general and localities in particular.
In 2023, the value of aid disbursed to Vietnam by foreign non-governmental organizations and foreign agencies, organizations, and individuals will reach more than 228.7 million USD, an increase of 4.9 million USD compared to 2022, demonstrating the significant efforts of ministries, branches, and localities in coordinating the work of mobilization, organization, management, and implementation.
The management of foreign non-governmental organizations has significant contributions to foreign affairs, especially people-to-people diplomacy. It demonstrates the support and cooperation of international partners and friends for efforts in national development. These days, Son La has 31 foreign non-governmental organizations granted registration certificates to operate in the province. In 2023, Son La received six (6) programs, projects, and aid with a total committed value of nearly 4.9 million USD. Aid activities focus on sustainable development through programs/projects to improve community capacity, raise awareness, enhance livelihoods for ethnic minorities, develop agriculture, combat climate change, provide health care, education, etc. In the coming time, Son La province will continue to effectively implement the Program to enhance cooperation and mobilize foreign non-governmental aid for the period 2020 - 2025, focusing on attracting sponsors for the following areas: agriculture, rural development, education and training, health, environmental resources, solving social problems.
Concluding the conference, Ms. Nguyen Minh Hang emphasized that in the coming time, ministries, branches, and localities need to continue to strengthen state management of foreign non-governmental activities, regularly exchange information, and closely coordinate between local and central agencies in managing and supervising activities and aid, ensuring security - political and foreign affairs requirements, serving socio-economic development.
