(en.sonla.gov.vn) In recent times, local authorities and relevant agencies across the province have actively joined forces, implementing coordinated solutions to safeguard the rights and interests of consumers. These efforts have contributed to greater transparency and fairness in the market, fostering equal competition among businesses.
Consumers have a wide range of choices when purchasing food at supermarkets
Since the beginning of the year, the goods market has been active with increased shopping demand. Overall, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April 2025 rose by 0.02% compared to the previous month and increased by 2.33% year-on-year. From the start of the year until now, authorities have detected, apprehended, and handled 285 cases involving 288 individuals. Among these, 269 cases resulted in administrative penalties, with a total of nearly 2.5 billion VND collected for the state budget. The value of confiscated goods exceeded 986 million VND, and 16 cases/19 individuals were prosecuted.
To implement comprehensive measures protecting consumer rights, authorities have stepped up inspections and controls since the beginning of the year to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods. Additionally, they have focused on raising legal awareness among businesses and consumers to ensure compliance with regulations. The Provincial 389 Steering Committee has instructed member agencies and enforcement forces in districts, towns, and cities to promptly implement directives from the Prime Minister, the National 389 Steering Committee, central ministries, and the Provincial People's Committee in fighting against the trade of smuggled and banned goods, the production and sale of counterfeit and substandard products, unsafe food items, and other illegal business activities.
To combat and prevent smuggling and commercial fraud, the Provincial 389 Steering Committee continues to direct the coordinated and decisive implementation of measures, strengthening specialized inspections and strictly handling violations of trading laws. At the same time, it establishes effective consumer reporting channels to foster a healthy business environment, protect citizens’ rights, and promote the province’s economic development.
Over the past years, the work of protecting consumer rights has always been given attention by all levels, sectors, and localities in the province; actively coordinating to promote propaganda with diverse contents and forms, focusing on disseminating the Consumer Protection Law, related Decrees, and Circulars; at the same time vigorously implementing the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"; and providing warnings to consumers on how to choose products and signs to recognize genuine goods, counterfeit goods, and poor-quality goods.
