Evaluating, classificating and re-recognizing of OCOP products in 2025

(en.sonla.gov.vn) On June 13, 2025, in Son La City, The provincial evaluation and classification council for the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program held a conference to evaluate, classify, and re-recognize OCOP products of Son La province for 2025. The event was chaired by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Chairman of the Provincial OCOP Council Nguyen Thanh Cong.

Attending the conference were members of the Son La provincial OCOP council for the 2021–2025 term; leaders of relevant departments and sectors; representatives from the People’s Committees of Yen Chau and Thuan Chau districts; along with owners of potential 4-star products participating in the 2025 evaluation and classification process.

This OCOP product evaluation and classification round included the assessment of new products such as Ruby plum by Kien Cuong Cooperative, Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district; and Shan Tuyet On Oc tea by Tay Bac Cooperative, Yen Chau district. In addition, five previously certified products were re-evaluated: Diep Bach black garlic by Tay Bac Cooperative, Yen Chau district; Hoshi black garlic by Bao Gia 26 Co., Ltd., Yen Chau district; community-based tourism, eco-tourism services, and tourist site by Pha Din tourism cooperative, Thuan Chau district; Thu Dan Oolong tea and Thu Dan tea by Thu Dan Tea Co., Ltd., Thuan Chau district.
At the conference, product owners presented samples and delivered detailed presentations on their production processes, product quality, packaging design, traceability, and other relevant criteria in an effort to convince the Evaluation council. Council members assessed each product objectively and transparently based on submitted documents, presentations, and the OCOP evaluation criteria. The supporting team compiled the scoring results and reported them to the Council for discussion and consensus on the classification and certification of qualified OCOP products.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered a speech at the conference.
Spoke at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong highly praised the efforts, creativity, and sense of responsibility demonstrated by product owners in improving the quality and packaging of OCOP products. He urged members of the Evaluation council to thoroughly review the submitted dossiers and provide well-founded feedback to ensure that only truly deserving products are recognized as meeting the provincial OCOP standards for 2025. He also emphasized that the evaluation and re-ranking process not only honors the value of local agricultural products but also contributes to sustainable rural economic development and improved livelihoods for the people.

Through the conference, numerous potential products were reviewed and re-evaluated with the aim of improving quality, strengthening brand recognition, and expanding market reach—making a significant contribution to the effective implementation of the OCOP program across Son La Province.
