Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries were estimated at VND 3,642.9 billion, up 7.92% from the same period last year, contributing 1.76 percentage points to overall growth. The industry and construction sector reached an estimated VND 4,264.5 billion, increasing by 11.83% year-on-year and contributing 2.97 percentage points. Services were estimated at VND 7,807.9 billion, up 8.33%, contributing 3.94 percentage points. Product taxes less subsidies were estimated at VND 826.3 billion, up 1.68%, contributing 0.09 percentage points to overall growth.

In the first half of the year, in order to achieve the above-mentioned results, agricultural, forestry, and fishery production was directed toward concentration, sustainability, and the application of high technology. Efforts were made to develop raw material areas in association with the processing industry and clean agriculture along organic lines, while promoting the adoption of high technology, biotechnology, and mechanization in production. Enterprises, cooperatives, and households were encouraged and supported to invest in intensive farming, crop diversification, and production according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards, with a focus on product market linkages. The province has made significant strides in improving the investment and business environment, with positive outcomes in investment promotion and attraction. Priority was given to accelerating the implementation of the Hoa Binh – Moc Chau expressway project, particularly the section passing through Son La province. Trade, services, and tourism activities were actively promoted. The circulation of goods remained smooth, and the supply of goods and materials necessary for production and business operations was ensured. The province paid close attention to trade promotion, branding, and consumption of local agricultural products. Strong measures were taken against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeiting, and intellectual property infringement. Tourism promotion and development activities were also vigorously advanced.

In the first half of 2025, the province’s GRDP at current prices is estimated to reach VND 39.241 trillion. Of this, the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sector is estimated at VND 7.673 trillion, accounting for 19.55%; the industry and construction sector at VND 13.479 trillion, accounting for 34.35%; the services sector at VND 16.129 trillion, making up 41.10%; and product taxes minus subsidies at VND 1.960 trillion, accounting for 5%. The economic structure has shifted in a positive and appropriate direction, aligning with the province’s economic development objectives. Agricultural production is transitioning toward market-oriented production with the application of high technology, capitalizing on the province’s strengths in fruit cultivation. The industrial sector is developing with an increasing proportion of processing industries and a higher share of domestic value in products. The service sector is focused on developing areas with competitive advantages, particularly tourism services.

Due to the impact of multiple factors, Sơn La’s economic growth in the first six months of 2025 did not meet the set target of 11.5%. However, the province still recorded a relatively strong growth rate. This result will serve as a continued driving force for Sơn La to strive toward achieving and surpassing the annual growth target of 8% in 2025.
