Strengthening local cooperation between Vietnam and Yunnan Province, China
From March 24-28, a delegation from the Son La Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, along with representatives from foreign affairs offices in various localities, visited and worked in Yunnan Province, China. The delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang.

Participating localities included: Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Hai Phong, Kien Giang, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Nghe An, Phu Tho, Quang Binh, Son La, Vinh Phuc, and Yen Bai.

As part of the program, the delegation met with Wang Hao, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province; participated in a discussion on enhancing Vietnam-Yunnan foreign affairs cooperation; attended a forum on boosting foreign affairs and cultural-tourism cooperation with Lijiang; and visited various economic, agricultural, and cultural facilities, as well as new rural development models.

During the meeting with the Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people highly value the 'mountain-by-mountain, river-by-river' relationship with China. She emphasized that the comprehensive friendship and cooperation with China is a top priority in Vietnam’s overall foreign policy.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the special significance of this working visit as a vivid demonstration of strengthening local cooperation between the two sides. It contributes to realizing the shared understanding of the top leaders of both parties and countries regarding the enhancement of friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between localities.

Delegates participated in an exchange to share experiences in foreign affairs between localities in Vietnam and Yunnan Province, China.

Both sides praised the local-level relations between Vietnam and Yunnan Province in recent years and emphasized the need to further strengthen visits at all levels. They committed to enhancing cooperation in areas such as security and defense, people-to-people exchanges, border management and protection, and trade and commerce. Yunnan also pledged to continue offering numerous scholarships to Vietnam.

At the forums, both sides highlighted their potential and strengths, offering numerous specific cooperation proposals in mutually relevant and complementary areas: culture and tourism, investment and trade, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang invited the Yunnan Foreign Affairs delegation to visit and work in Vietnam at a convenient time.

This marks the third time that both sides have implemented a mechanism for local foreign affairs exchanges. This forum provides a platform for leaders in foreign affairs from both parties to share experiences, discuss directions, and explore measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in the future.
