Son La breaks ground on Provincial Road 107C project, linking Son La and Lai Chau provinces.

(en.sonla.gov.vn) On the morning of July 29, 2025, in Muong Chien commune, the Son La Provincial Peoples Committee solemnly held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Provincial Road 107C Project, which will connect Muong Chien commune in Son La province to Nam So commune in Lai Chau province. The ceremony was attended by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Lo Minh Hung; Vice Chairman of the Provincial Peoples Committee Le Hong Minh; representatives from provincial departments and agencies; leaders from Nam So commune and communes in the Quynh Nhai area; representatives from consulting firms and construction contractors.

The 107C road is being built to Class V mountain road standards (TCVN 4054-2005), with a total length of 21km. This includes upgrading 8.9km at the beginning of the route and constructing 12.1km of a new section at the end. The project has a total investment of 245 billion VND, featuring a roadbed width of 6.5m and a road surface width of 3.5m. The surface will be a three-layer asphalt-coated crushed stone structure with a thickness of 3.5cm, along with a system of culverts, retaining walls, and other traffic safety components. Once completed, the road will create a regional transport axis connecting Son La and Lai Chau provinces, facilitating trade, promoting tourism around the Son La Hydropower reservoir, forming a concentrated raw material zone, and helping to complete new rural development criteria. This project is also a tribute to the upcoming 16th Son La Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that to ensure construction progress and quality, he requested relevant units to decisively implement site clearance, closely follow directives, and manage investment capital in compliance with regulations. He also urged the contractors and supervision consultants to recognize this as a key provincial project, requiring serious execution and the mobilization of modern personnel and equipment to ensure early completion, meeting the expectations of the people.

The groundbreaking of the Provincial Road 107C project marks a significant milestone in the region’s socio-economic development, contributing to the realization of the transport infrastructure development orientation outlined in the Son La Provincial Master Plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, as approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 1676/QĐ-TTg dated December 25, 2023.
