Son La develops sustainable and integrated tourism
(en.sonla.gov.vn) Son La province is a locality with many potentials and advantages in both nature and culture for tourism development; the security situation in the tourism sector in the area is secure. Tourism is a field that has always received attention, leadership, and direction from the Party Committee and authorities at all levels of the province.

From 2023 to 2025, the implementation of the emulation movement "Son La develops sustainable and integrated tourism" has regularly received attention, close and regular direction from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and close coordination from local departments, branches, sectors, and organizations. Directive documents and action plans are issued promptly and specifically, creating a solid legal foundation for the effective implementation of the emulation movement. The movement has a widespread influence, raising the spirit of initiative and creativity in each cadre, party member, civil servant, public employee, and the entire people. Many mass organizations, business communities, cooperatives, households, and individuals have fully and deeply recognized the role, purpose, and significance of the emulation movement, thereby actively participating, responding, and becoming the core force in implementing the set goals.

Identifying emulation as a driving force for development, the provincial Party Committees and authorities have promptly issued documents directing and guiding the implementation, implementing projects related to tourism development, closely following the requirements of political tasks and local practical situations. At the same time, strengthen inspection and supervision, promptly commend, rectify, promote the pioneering role of Party Committees and authorities, ensuring the effective participation of individuals and collectives in the emulation movement; 100% of agencies, units, and localities develop plans, launching emulation effectively integrated with movements and tasks of sectors and fields such as new rural construction, administrative reform, high-tech agricultural development, maintaining social order and safety, etc.

100% of agencies and units organize propaganda integrated into monthly and quarterly meetings, early morning newspaper reading sessions, flag-raising political activities, through the document management system, posted on the unit's website, thereby raising awareness, proactive and creative spirit of individual and collective, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere in the whole society, contributing to making tourism an important economic sector, gradually improving professionalism, having a relatively synchronous infrastructure system, having unique tourism products imbued with national identity, becoming an attractive and key destination of the Northwest region, contributing to preserving and promoting the good cultural values of ethnic groups, improving people's knowledge, creating jobs, reducing poverty quickly and sustainably.

The propaganda and dissemination work raised awareness of the importance of tourism development among cadres, party members, and citizens. It has been paid attention to by the Party Committees and authorities, with leadership, direction, organization, and implementation being timely, regular, and continuous. The awareness of cadres, party members and people about tourism development is upraised; tourism is gradually becoming a comprehensive economic sector that creates momentum for other sectors to develop, contributing to the transformation of the economy structure, creating jobs and improving the lives of people, especially ethnic minorities in remote areas; businesses and people have changed their awareness, actively participating in protecting tourism resources, maintaining environmental sanitation, ensuring security and order in tourist areas, points and villages; the propaganda work has been promoted and effectively supported businesses and ethnic minorities in the province to better understand natural tourism resources, cultural tourism resources, tourism potentials and strengths, good people and good deeds, to make each Son La citizen a tourism ambassador.

Tourism promotion and advertising activities are effectively implemented in many forms, such as on media, social networks, publications, competitions, tourism product evaluation surveys, promotion programs, especially digital transformation, and through events, annual cultural tourism festivals, cultural days to attract tourists deployed on a large scale, with rich and unique content; effectively implementing communication and advertising work on famous domestic and international media channels such as: VTV, VOV, CNN, New York Post, USA Today, Indian Express Magazine, Reuters News Agency, etc.; organizing many tourism events to promote, advertise and carry out political tasks, socio-economic development, foreign affairs, investment attraction; organizing tourism competitions and conferences: Son La Tourism Logo and Slogan Creation Contest; beautiful photos of Son La tourism, the first beautiful Pieu scarf gift products, tour guides; the quintessence of ethnic cuisine; awards for voting to recognize Son La province's tourism brand; launching the emulation movement "Son La develops sustainable and integrated tourism" for the period 2023 - 2025 in Moc Chau district, etc. thereby creating a brand and image of a prominent destination for Son La tourism.

Implementing Resolution No. 41/2022/NQ-HDND dated August 31, 2022 of the Provincial People's Council on regulations on several policies to support tourism development in Son La province from 2022 to 2026, the province has guided agencies, units, localities, tourist areas, tourist spots, community tourism villages and organizations and individuals operating in the tourism sector that are subject to support under the Resolution, promptly grasp, proactively register to respond to tourism development plans, promotion programs, researching, selecting support policy contents suitable for the unit and prepare documents to request support by regulations, contributing to creating motivation to promote the development of tourism products and services, improving the effectiveness of propaganda, promotion, and development of tourism human resources, etc.

Many formed and developed tourism products in association with ecology, agriculture, and indigenous culture to meet the trends and needs of tourists. Up to now, Son La has 15 recognized tourist areas and tourist destinations (including 01 national tourist area, 01 provincial tourist area, 13 provincial tourist destinations); 05 main tourism product groups: ecological and agricultural tourism; cultural and historical tourism; community tourism; resort, entertainment and health tourism; thematic tourism (sports; seminars, conferences, cuisine). Many formed, developed tourist destinations, creating highlights for Son La tourism, such as: Moc Chau National Tourist Area; Northwest Square; Son La Prison National Special Monument; Vietnam - Laos Revolutionary Base National Special Monument; Co Noi Intersection Historical Relic; Anti-French Resistance Historical Relic of Ban Nhot Forest; Pha Din Pass tourist area; Son La Hydropower Reservoir tourist area; Eco-tourism, agriculture in Tea Village, Na Ka Plum Valley, strawberry garden, rose garden, white mustard flower fields, etc. Community tourism in Son La is also a sustainable direction that Son La province is interested in. Besides economic value, this model also brings sustainable cultural value to the localities.

Many villages have developed community tourism, such as Hua Tat - Van Ho (Homestay A Chu has an established image and destination brand), Primitive Village - Hang Tau, and Ngoc Chien - Muong La, etc.
