Improving the economic efficiency of cooperatives in Moc Chau
(Moc Chau) In recent years, the collective economic sector and cooperatives in Moc Chau town have made remarkable progress. It is crucial to mention the operational efficiency of agricultural cooperatives in proactively developing production linkage plans and projects associated with promoting the application of science and technology, contributing to promoting economic development and sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.

Tan Lap Tea Production and Trading Cooperative, Tan Yen Commune, now has 90 hectares of tea produced according to VietGAP standards in association with more than 400 tea-growing households. The Cooperative also has focused on investing in infrastructure with a processing workshop of more than 1,000 m2 equipped with modern machinery, equipment, and technology. The average annual revenue of the Cooperative reaches more than 90 billion VND, creating regular jobs for more than 60 local workers. Now, the Cooperative owns two OCOP products that have achieved four provincial stars, including Shan Tuyet tea and special Bat Tien tea, exported to markets in the Middle East.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy, Director of Tan Lap Tea Production and Trading Cooperative, Moc Chau, Son La: “The Cooperative plans to continue expanding the raw material area with VietGAP and organic production processes. Currently, the Cooperative’s tea products are promoted and communicated on mass media, Facebook, and in booths and fairs. At the same time, we continue to maintain the brand of OCOP tea products and expand the consumption market to Asia, Europe, etc,”.

Established in 2010, the 19/5 Agricultural Development Service Cooperative, Binh Minh Ward, Moc Chau Town, is one of the pioneers in developing an agricultural model combined with tourism. Presence, the cooperative has 50 official members and is associated with more than 200 members, producing 110 hectares of various crops. The total consumption output of the cooperative reaches 800 to 1,000 tons of agricultural products per year. According to Mr. Mai Duc Trong, Deputy Director of the 19/5 Agricultural Cooperative, Moc Chau, Son La: “In recent years, our cooperative has promoted fruit tree products and participated in processing dried fruit products, including 05 plum varieties, 03 persimmon varieties, 02 pear varieties, and 02 strawberry varieties. The cooperative aims to apply science and technology in production and processing. The consumption market promoted on e-commerce platforms, Tiki, Lazada to promote domestically and export, etc.”.

Currently, Moc Chau town has 125 cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector, accounting for nearly 90% of the total number of cooperatives in the area. Of these, 32 cooperatives have installed drip irrigation systems and water-saving irrigation systems using Israeli technology with a total area of over 140 hectares; 11 cooperatives grow vegetables, flowers, and fruits in net houses and greenhouses; 38 cooperatives apply VietGAP production processes with a total area of 490 hectares; the cooperatives have taken advantage of exploiting their potential and strengths, closely linked with production and product consumption contributing to promoting local economic and social development.
