Cooperatives contribute positively to economic development.

The province has 865 cooperatives and 06 cooperative unions in operation. In recent times, cooperatives have played a significant role in the provincial economic development, especially in the agricultural sector. Cooperatives are currently developing rapidly and stably. Cooperatives have exploited the potential and strengths of the locality to expand production and business in the direction of regional linkage, producing goods according to the value chains and increasing the competitiveness of products in the market. Cooperatives are taking the lead in building brands for agricultural products, participating in exports, promoting the image of the province's agricultural products to domestic consumers and international friends, and are a bridge connecting farmers who directly produce with scientists and processing factories, at the same time, solving on-site jobs for local workers.

Most agricultural cooperatives have paid attention to and focused on production according to clean agricultural standards and built labels and packaging with origin and source. Many cooperative products are typical rural agricultural products, achieving OCOP certification of 3 stars or higher. Now, the province has over 2,714 hectares of crops applying good farming production processes and equivalent standards; granted 294 growing area codes with an area of over 3,141 hectares for export; 110 OCOP products achieving 03 stars or higher. In the coming time, Son La province will continue to consolidate and improve the operational efficiency of cooperatives associated with new rural construction and restructuring the agricultural sector, building and developing effective cooperatives, applying technology and sustainable development, production associated with processing and applying new advanced science and technology, creating quality products with local characteristics, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
