Focus on implementing the project "Enhancing International Cooperation for the Development of Vietnam's Halal Industry by 2030."

In compliance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' directive on coordinating the implementation of the project "Enhancing International Cooperation for the Development of Vietnam's Halal Industry by 2030," the Son La Provincial People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs to take the lead in collaboration with relevant agencies and organizations. As a result, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Plan No. 28 on May 4, 2024, to implement the Government’s project. Additionally, the Provincial People’s Committee has directed provincial departments, agencies, and district-level, city-level authorities to coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and other socio-political organizations to disseminate the contents of Plan No. 28. Efforts have been made to unify understanding of the plan’s purpose, requirements, objectives, and key tasks while ensuring that assigned responsibilities are proactively executed within their respective jurisdictions. As of the reporting period, relevant agencies and organizations across the province have seriously implemented the dissemination and internalization of the plan’s content. They have also developed detailed action plans to carry out assigned tasks effectively in accordance with their functions and authority.

Agencies and organizations across the province have proactively updated information from internal sectoral systems and public media regarding products, services, standards, certifications, markets, and culture related to the Halal market to support policy advisory and implementation planning. Efforts have been made to enhance information dissemination and public awareness among citizens, businesses, and local authorities about Halal fundamentals, including concepts, standards, certifications, market trends, and the business culture of Muslim communities. Halal-related cultural aspects have also been integrated into major national strategies on culture and tourism, contributing to shaping Vietnam’s national identity and global image. Additionally, promotional activities include providing Halal-certified products and services at international sporting events hosted by Vietnam, incorporating Halal-related content into diplomatic engagements, and strengthening international cooperation and trade promotion in the Halal sector with key Halal markets worldwide.

Local media agencies have reported on the conference titled “Leveraging internal strengths and enhancing international cooperation to promote the development of Vietnam’s Halal Industry.” They have also published various articles, including: Ready to cooperate and import Vietnam’s Halal Food Products; Conference on strengthening international cooperation for the development of Vietnam’s Halal Industry; Enhancing international cooperation to promote the growth of Vietnam’s Halal Industry….

Specialized agencies have proactively reviewed products and services to propose and collaborate with the Ministry of Science and Technology in assessing standards, regulations, and certifications. They have also provided information to local authorities and businesses on Halal certification standards and regulations in Muslim markets, as well as details on Vietnamese and regional Halal certification centers, enabling organizations and individuals to complete necessary procedures when needed. Additionally, the province has integrated Halal agricultural and food industry development into its initiatives and actively promoted Halal products and services in compliance with regulations.

In the coming time, Son La province will continue implementing the key contents of Plan No. 28, dated May 4, 2024, issued by the Provincial People’s Committee. The province will closely follow the national strategy, relevant directives, resolutions, and conclusions from the Central Government to ensure effective leadership, direction, and governance. These guidelines will be translated into concrete plans and programs, tailored to the province’s specific conditions and characteristics. Emphasis will be placed on the responsibility of Party committees, government agencies, and sectoral departments, especially leaders, in overseeing and ensuring the effective execution of the plan. Officials, civil servants, and public employees directly involved in policy advising will be expected to regularly review tasks, update higher-level directives, and provide timely recommendations to facilitate smooth implementation.
