Implementing the Plan for the production, processing, consumption, and export of agricultural products in 2025

 Accordingly, Son La expected a bumper year of fruit in 2025, with an estimated total output of 510,000 tons, an increase of 31% compared to 2024. Given information at a conference reporting on forecasts of output and harvest season of agricultural products reported by the Department of Agriculture and Environment. Favorable weather conditions and the expansion of cultivated areas are the main factors driving this growth. Key crops, such as bananas, plums, mangoes, longans, and hawthorns, are expected to increase output. Notably, Son La province has paid special attention to improving the quality of agricultural products for export.

Currently, the province maintains 218 growing area codes and 08 export packaging facility codes, with the main products being longan, mango, macadamia, and passion fruit. The output meeting export standards is estimated at over 35,000 tons, targeting markets such as China, the EU, and other countries. In addition, Son La also focuses on providing safe agricultural products to supermarkets and domestic chain stores, with 308 safe agricultural and aquatic food supply chains in operation. The output supplied to the domestic market is over 50,000 tons/year. To ensure production meets market demand, the conference focused on discussing key issues such as the production, processing, and consumption of the province's key agricultural products; the implementation of policies to support agricultural development; Difficulties, challenges, and solutions to improve the quality, efficiency of production, processing, and export of farming products; build brands and expand product consumption markets.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee emphasized the importance of developing sustainable agriculture, increasing the added value of agricultural products, and making a crucial contribution to the socioeconomic development of the province. He requested departments, branches, and localities to focus on implementing several key tasks in 2025, including increasing investment in research and application of scientific and technological advances in production, focusing on selecting varieties, improving farming techniques, and improving productivity and product quality, promoting the development of commodity-based production, focusing on key products, on products with competitive advantages, meeting domestic and foreign market demand, investing heavily in the processing industry, building modern factories and processing facilities, increasing product-added value, strengthening trade promotion, and seeking consumer markets including organizing fairs and exhibitions, and connecting businesses to expand export markets, intensifying product quality management like ensuring food hygiene and safety and meeting international standards.

Besides, all levels and sectors are requested to strengthen close coordination, creating favorable conditions for enterprises and farmers producing, processing, and consuming agricultural products. Concurrently, Son La province affirms that it will continue to generate all conditions for agriculture to become a key economic sector, contributing positively to the socio-economic development in the area. With these efforts, Son La hopes to increase the value of farming products, bring economic benefits to farmers, and promote the sustainable development of the province's agricultural sector.
