In recent years, under the leadership of the two Parties and  the two Governments of Vietnam and Laos, the Party committees, local authorities, and officers and soldiers of the armed forces, along with the people of the ethnic groups in Son La, Huaphan, and Luang Prabang provinces, have always upheld the tradition of special solidarity and friendship. They have strengthened comprehensive cooperation in various fields such as economy, society, defense, and security. Regularly exchanged timely information on the border situation, and have closely coordinated in raising awareness and mobilizing residents in border districts, communes, and villages of both countries to implement the Vietnam–Laos legal border documents. The armed forces of both sides have carried out border patrols and protected border markers.

To implement the necessary conditions and preparations for the 2025 Border Affairs Briefing Conference between Son La Province and the two provinces of Huaphan and Luang Prabang of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, delegates at the meeting discussed preparatory matters such as the meeting format—an Expanded Border Affairs Briefing Conference; preparation of a visual report in the form of a video presentation; proposed list of invited guests; content for emulation and commendation proposals; and the timing of the conference.

In her concluding remarks, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Provincial Border Affairs Steering Committee Trang Thi Xuan, directed relevant departments and sectors to closely coordinate with concerned agencies and units to urgently complete all preparations, requested departments and sectors to take into account the opinions shared at the meeting and, based on their assigned functions and responsibilities, effectively implement the necessary tasks to ensure the conference is successfully organized.
