Nhan Dan Newspaper, in collaboration with technology partners and relevant authorities of Son La province, has launched the installation of NFC chip-enabled boards (wireless connectivity technology) at prominent historical, cultural, and tourist sites throughout the province. In Son La, three NFC chip-enabled boards have been installed free of charge at three notable locations: Bac Yen district, Son La city, and Moc Chau town. This activity is part of the “Beloved Vietnam” project, jointly implemented by Nhan Dan Newspaper and its technology partners. The project aims to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), while promoting historical, cultural, and tourist landmarks across the country, thereby contributing to the development of Vietnam’s tourism industry. In Son La province, with the approval of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee, Nhan Dan Newspaper and its technology partners have cooperated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to install NFC chip-enabled boards at three locations: the Son La prison special national historic site; Moc Chau island tourist area in Moc Chau town; and the cloud paradise destination of Ta Xua in Ta Xua commune, Bac Yen district.
Ms. Nguyen Hai Huyen, a visitor to the Son La prison special national historic site, shared: "I was introduced by the tour guide to try out the wireless connectivity technology at the Son La prison site. It was amazing! After scanning the NFC chip-enabled board, I was instantly provided with essential information about the Son La prison— built by the French colonialists with the sinister purpose of imprisoning, persecuting, and attempting to extinguish the revolutionary will of Vietnamese communist fighters..."
The NFC chip-enabled boards are designed in red and yellow, inspired by the Vietnamese national flag, and operate automatically without the need for electricity. Each board offers stories, images, videos, or 3D models related to the site where it is installed. They also feature search, navigation, and location-based information tools, helping visitors explore the site and nearby tourist attractions.
When visiting these tourist attractions and historical sites, tourists can use an internet-connected smartphone to tap on the NFC chip-enabled board to be certified as having checked in at the location, store personal images and receive useful information about the site, landmark, or destination. Once tourists have experienced all the NFC chip-enabled spots in a locality, they will receive a gift from the program and a digital certificate upon completing their exploration there.

The use of NFC chip-enabled boards will be one of the tools for the province to implement its digital transformation strategy, combining official information and data with technology and creative ideas to vividly and effectively promote important cultural and historical events, as well as local tourism products, to both domestic and international tourists.
