Moc Chau National Tourist Area has a scale of 206,150 hectares (including the administrative boundaries of 02 districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho), has a prime location, is both the gateway to Son La province tourism and a bridge connecting Hanoi capital and the Northern Delta region with the Northwestern provinces on the main traffic route of National Highway 6; connecting Son La with the Northwestern provinces with Hanoi and the Red River Delta region, connecting Long Sap International Border Gate with Hua Phan province and Luang Prabang province (Laos); has a fresh, cool climate, beautiful, majestic natural landscape, diverse, rich and attractive tourism resources creating the uniqueness of Moc Chau and becoming a "specialty.", potential and valuable for tourism development.

The event that the Moc Chau National Tourist Area was officially recognized by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism not only created a vigorous and sustainable brand for Son La tourism but also contributed to promoting the Northwest region and Vietnam tourism is a recognition of the efforts of the Party Committees and authorities at all levels, the solidarity and unity of businesses and people of Moc Chau and Van Ho to build and create this brand.

In addition to the achievements and results, Moc Chau National Tourist Area in the coming time will face many challenges in developing, exploiting, and using tourism resources as well as issues of conservation, promotion of cultural values, protection of landscapes, environment, planning management, land management, construction order, urban development, issues of product quality, tourism services, security and safety for tourists, etc.

To achieve this goal, striving to develop the Tourist Area to be worthy of being a national tourist area, affirming its position on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world, promoting the potential and advantages of natural resources and cultural resources to develop tourism, contributing to economic growth, hunger eradication, and poverty reduction. Today, the People's Committee of Son La province coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize a tourism promotion conference with the theme "Orientation for the development of a green and sustainable Moc Chau National Tourist Area.".

At this conference, the tourism industry of Son La province in general and the National Tourist Area in particular are looking forward to hearing the opinions of state management agencies, experts, and tourism enterprises so that Son La province has a basis to continue to direct, have plans, strategies, and solutions to orient the development of Moc Chau National Tourist Area to develop commensurate with the potential, advantages, scale, and stature of the national tourist area based on preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, protecting natural landscapes and the environment, minimizing unwanted impacts that lessons learned from national tourist areas and famous tourist areas have encountered.
